BABY & Building a HoUsE!

With our great and exciting news of expecting our first child due Feb 28th we have decided that it would be best to look at other homes. Since the home we live in now is WONDERFUL…but SMALL. Come spring we will attempt to build a home on our land. Well let me rephrase that! The builders will build our house we just have to come up with the plan. I have been thru 100 pieces of graft paper with various ideas and layouts. So now I would like your help! If you built your home, bought your home or even just rent…. What would you do different if you would build a house? And What do you love about your home that you would hands down do again? My sister Amy was kind enough to let me know the new style/fashion for dogs in a new home. It is a small shower/tub that you can bath your dog in your home. Well for most of you that know me… know that I will not be needing that in my home…and Well for most of you that know my husband… he would love that in our home :o). So we already find ourselves with our first major discussion with building a home! HA!

Well,I think we all have a pretty good idea of how this 'discussion' will end up. My prediction is: NO Dogs in the tub OR the house! Where can we place our bets? LOL! I am feeling left out of the blog world now that you have started one...but maybe i will just have to jump on the bandwagon one of these days when my life slows down! ( does that ever happen?) One of my relatives who is a missionary in Russia has been after me for two long years to start my own blog. I have always found plenty of reasons to not...but maybe now is the time. What do you think?

I am with Joanna...i have a feeling i know who will win that battle!! If it helps Scarlett loves dogs and would love for her cousins to have lots of dogs so mommy and daddy don't have to buy any... you will see that baby gardner will want a dog and then you will give in!!

I am so feeling left out of the blogging world and I think joanna that you should totally do it.. i do try to blog on our family website which has a monthly fee and i am not sure why we don't sign up for one of these sites but i am lazy!!

Also... the house thing... i am not giving much input as i would change ALOT of things about my house, but if you ask for input people are going to give it so watch what you wish for...

How wonderful Joy to be planning your new home along with the new baby. About the house thangy, my only thing I like about a home is having an open floor plan I love homes that the kitchen opens up into the living room and thats all I am going to say. Hey whats wrong with a dog, they are so protective and loyal, I have 2 now and we would love a doggy bath so I would not have to hang over the tub on my knees, my one dog loves baths so much she's in the tub before I even turn on the water. Good luck with your plans.

Hello Cousins! Busy Gardners aren't you...growing a baby and building a house! Fabulous! How terrific to plan your home from the ground up to suit your life. One of the things I miss from growing up in an old farmhouse is the hopper! It went from the 3rd floor to the basement. What a convenience that would be in my home today! I get so frustrated trying to get laundry baskets through our extremely small kitchen to the basement steps to do the laundry...of course a smarter plan would be to just put the laundry room upstairs in the closet!!

Hey chick - so glad to see you on here! And I'm delighted that I get to keep up with your life since I never get to see you anymore! Good luck on the house - sounds like fun! You know the little doggie sink would be handy for bathing your little babies too! I would definitely consider it!

We've been in our house almost two years, and I haven't yet found anything I'd change, except for running a phone line in the basement. (Not a big deal.)

We each made a list of things that we wanted, and picked our top three. It forced us to think about what we really, really wanted. Both of us got our top three things, and lots of other stuff we wanted, too, but it helped us figure out what we could let go without regret.

Oh Boy!!! This could get good!! I was serious on the advice!!! :) That picture turned out pretty cool. Well, I haven't seen the newest final plans. My favorites: walk-in pantry, high speed, place for changing table (or big bathroom counter) on main floor, place for sweeper, washer/dryer walk-out to back yard to hang clothes on the line, windows that don't give you ulcers to clean, not too many windows but enough to give cheap light, did I mention high speed internet, toy room, place for extra freezer upstairs or in garage, place to store folding chairs for all the parties and company you will be having, extra space for high chair so you don't stub your toe when you walk by it, place for kids to do homework in peace, high speed internet. Well, those are a few of my suggestions. I'm trying to update my blog and stopped over here to see if you put up pictures from last nights cook-out. Share some when you do. Thanks!!!

Hi Joy! Thanks for the comment on my blog...I'm so glad to find yours!! I would love to build our own house someday, but don't know if I could handle the stress:)It sounds like the number one thing on your list should be a dishwasher:) I'm just kidding...I hope you get all kinds of ideas and I look forward to keeping up with you on your blog!
