Tonight my brother Doug had a surprise 30th birthday party for his wife Joanna. Doug had a friend call Joanna on Thursday to see if they wanted to come over for a hayride. Little did Joanna know … she was being invited to her own birthday party! Doug planned a party for Joanna out in my grandparent’s woods. All week they were calling for rain… but for once it was a beautiful evening with NO RAIN! We all had been watching the weather report all week and ignoring Joanna so that we wouldn’t slip the surprise. Doug also planned a treasure hunt, pumpkin painting, hayride and a baby sitter for Ryder. Joanna showed up very surprised thinking that she was just picking up Doug and heading to another party. The kids were very excited to surprise her. I think it took her at least 20 minutes to realize what was really happening. Her mom made a 30 cake out of cupcakes and Uncle Dale had his famous French fries. Sam and I set up the treasure hunt and the pumpkin painting. Then Uncle Jim took everyone for a hayride. To finish the evening uncle dale made donuts! I will have to post some pictures… I think it tells the story better than I can.
