Saturday, August 22nd

On Friday night when we got to our hotel it was dark. So we were unable to see what kind of mountains we were really in. We could just tell we were going up the mountains.

Picture of our little B&B -

It was so neat to wake up and see out the window snow capped mountains.

On Saturday morning we started our 4 hour drive to Venice, Italy. We planned to check into our hotel at 1:00 and then head down to Venice for the rest of the night. WELL... since we LOVE sitting in traffic so much..... we didn't get to our destination until 5:30! Again we found pleasure in turning a 4 hour drive into 8 1/2 hours! YUKKK!

What did Kora Lily think about that road trip??? She did pretty well with only one 15 min crying spell... she kept looking at our visitors with the "please take me out of my car seat" eyes. We were able to give her a break in one of the traffic jams... when we were stopped for a 1/2 hour with NO movement what so ever.

But we finally made it to Venice around 6:15. It was soooo easy to get from our hotel to Venice city. But after all the packing experience we have had.... we forgot Kora's carrier. With all the bridges in Venice we decided that we would take turns carrying Kora. We knew that we would be eating dinner and taking a Gondola ride ... so the walking would be minimal.

Here is Sam carring Kora Lily... he had her sitting on the camera bag... and she still found a way to fall asleep. Kora Lily and I in Venice walking the small alleys. It looks like it was dark out.... but it wasn't.... we were just in a tight little alley.

Sam, Kora Lily and I on the Gondola ride! Kora loved being that close to the water... but she wasn't very sure about the motor boat that would pass us!
OK... this picture is hilarious in so many ways:

1.) Little KORA needs some SUN! She almost matches the white in his shirt!

2.) Our Gondola man has never held a baby before

3.) I am not sure who is more excited in this picture. Kora or the Gondola man.

*** He was a very good Gondola man... he was funny and told us history information. His English was very good.

Sam, Kora Lily and I in Venice. I know you can't see anything in the background, but we still liked this picture of all of us. Sam, Kora Lily and I crossing the big bridge by the train station. Kora Lily sleeping 3 minutes later on daddy!

Even with the horible traffic jam we had a really fun night in Venice. They say after 6' that most tourists go back to the cruise boat or leave with the big tourist groups. So we really did have the streets and alley ways to ourselves. Our visitors found a really fun little alley that had a really nice pizza place with linen and candle light. We stopped for some yummy pizza and sat right by the water way. It was very romantic.... Kora and All!
